FAQs About Spam Slicer

How Spam Slicer Works

When you use Spam Slicer, you can change your email address at any time by adding an identifier within your address:

So any time you set up a new merchant relationship, sign up for various lists, join organizations, or post your email address, you can hand out a distinct address. The minute you see a spam message sent to that distinct address, you can block all subsequent mail to that address with just a few clicks.

So if you're johndoe@mycompany.com, you can use:

  • johndoe.bankname543@mycompany.com, and
  • johndoe.newslettername@mycompany.com

And if you're janedoe@spamslicer.com, you can use:

  • janedoe.merchantnameJune2005@spamslicer.com, and
  • janedoe.auctionname@spamslicer.com
If you use the Spam Slicer Small Business Edition, you can even power your entire domain with Spam Slicer's unique virtual email address system -- complete with a simple administrator's dashboard.

What happens when mail arrives

Arriving mail from somebody in your address book (or on your acceptable senders list) will automatically go into the inbox of your favorite email software.

If the sender is not in your address book or on your acceptable senders list, it will be placed in a separate folder for later viewing, or deleted immediately -- at your option.

You may also turn off junk mail before it reaches your system or local network. When you notice that one of your coded email addresses has been sold or harvested, simply log into Spam Slicer and turn it off. This will not affect your other mail, and will make sure that spammers cannot use common spammer tricks to avoid your block.

Identifying Phishing schemes

To protect yourself from fraud, use Spam Slicer to positively identify each account with your bank, merchants and others. If a mail message looks like it is from one of these entities, but doesn't have the correct identifier in your incoming address, it's a fraud.
